jam shortbread
It's been a beautiful past couple of days. Recently I read this post, about the cookbook Apples for Jam. Since then I've been able to check it out from our local library. I've enjoyed spending a few moments every night after the children are in bed reading through and enjoying all the photos, snippets, and recipes. While we were all playing outside (well, I was sitting on the blanket with Naomi lightly reading the book) Ethan joined me in looking through what I was "reading". He requested that we "make something". Inspired by the weather and him, we did just that. While, it wasn't as peaceful of an endeavor as I had hoped. We didn't make that much of a mess, and it was overall a lot of fun to do with both of them. The main issue was that Seth was hungry, and when Seth is hungry, he is GRUMPY! Quickly, I worked this issue out, by sitting him down and allowing him to eat two bananas. This child can eat!
I used our playdough cutters to cut the shapes of the shortbread. We still haven't eaten a proper piece, but we devoured all the little odds and ends that got left behind from cutting out the shapes.
