sharing life

My friend who made that awesome little outfit for Naomi came over yesterday. When she rang she asked if I had a sewing maching and if she could bring some sewing to do while at our house. Hello? My dream in sharing life. Yes come over, yes, bring your two little ones and your sewing. Yes, let's do this together! She was amazing as well. The material is seen in the corner of the table, and out of that, she created an adorable little skirt for her 2 year old daughter. It was a nice day, playing, drinking tea, talking, her sewing, and my boys curious as to what the heck that thing was. All in all a great day. Thank you J.

a bear hunt

This book has become a favorite of all of ours. Both Ethan and Seth have had times where they have been telling parts of the story to themselves. Even now as I type, I can hear Seth saying "shut the door" referring to a snippet of the story.

We went on our own bear hunt outside. It was a blast.

I want to do more of this story telling and being in the story that is being told. I'm not very good at it at the moment. Are there any books that you know of that encourage this sort of play? Or do you have any stories that you grew up with or that you love telling little ones in your life?

Prolactin

A friend of mine made me this little outfit for Naomi. I love, love, love it. I love that she thought of my precious little girl as she composed it and I love that it is just for her. And I love the note.

"This garment may appear quirky or contain minor flaws. These are due, in part, to the garment being produced under the influence of Prolactin a naturally occuring hormone known for its sophoric, warmy fuzzy effect."

jam shortbread

It's been a beautiful past couple of days. Recently I read this post, about the cookbook Apples for Jam. Since then I've been able to check it out from our local library. I've enjoyed spending a few moments every night after the children are in bed reading through and enjoying all the photos, snippets, and recipes. While we were all playing outside (well, I was sitting on the blanket with Naomi lightly reading the book) Ethan joined me in looking through what I was "reading". He requested that we "make something". Inspired by the weather and him, we did just that.
While, it wasn't as peaceful of an endeavor as I had hoped. We didn't make that much of a mess, and it was overall a lot of fun to do with both of them. The main issue was that Seth was hungry, and when Seth is hungry, he is GRUMPY! Quickly, I worked this issue out, by sitting him down and allowing him to eat two bananas. This child can eat!

I used our playdough cutters to cut the shapes of the shortbread. We still haven't eaten a proper piece, but we devoured all the little odds and ends that got left behind from cutting out the shapes.

summery days

Hello kind friend. I'm thinking of you often and wondering how you are?

In the land of Oz the sun's warmth is making itself known once or twice a week. I dig warmer days. I love being able to play outside barefoot and enjoy adventures with my boys.

I'm still getting use to the clothes line process. We don't have a dryer at all. Most don't here in Oz. If they do, then it is used only on occassion. I like this, but sometimes I do miss the ability to quickly wash and dry clothes. On a sunny and slightly windy day though, the washing can have a quick turn around.

One of the things that I am thankful about regarding our home, is the established garden that we've inherited. I spent several minutes outside this morning filling vases full of roses and wild flowers. It's awesome to walk outside and have such a variety of plant life already blooming.

Life seems to be getting more and more steady and in a really adventerous and wonderful way. I'm so thankful that even amidst our house being for sale again (new house for sale this time) that I can rest in Him and enjoy the moment rather than trying to guess or anticipate the future.
